Travel Vaccinations - Due to manufacturing issues, we might not be able to offer the vaccine you require for your travels.  We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 months before you travel - as a second appointment may be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 4 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.  If the surgery is not given sufficient notice of your intention to travel, then we cannot offer a full travel vaccination programme.  You will therefore be required to contact a local travel clinic, which may incur further costs to you.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

Non-NHS Services

Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:

• Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV etc.)
• Insurance claim forms
• Prescriptions for taking medication abroad
• Private sick notes
• Vaccination certificates

The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.

Legislative Change to Department for Transport (Dft) Blue Badge Scheme

This change took effect from 30th August 2019. This entitles people with non-visible (hidden) disabilities to apply for a Blue Badge.  GPs will not participate in providing reports to support Blue Badge Applications. Patients are advised to contact an alternative professional from the suggested list below.  Please contact Essex County Council for any further enquiries.

PATIENT BIRTHDAYS

As of 2017 the practice has introduced  ‘Patient Birthday Annual Reviews’, for all those patients with either, Asthma, CHD, COPD, Diabetes, Hypertension and Hypothyroidism.

During the month of your birthday please expect a letter inviting you to make an appointment with the relevant clinician in order to review your condition.

You will be asked the following :

Asthma : Book an appointment with the Asthma Nurse. Please bring your asthma medication.

CHD : Book an appointment with the CHD Practice Nurse.  Within your letter you will receive a fasting blood test form.  Please ensure that you have the blood test at least 10 days prior to your appointment.  When attending your appointment please bring a urine sample.  Please label the bottle with your full name date of birth and NHS or hospital number, both of which can be found on your blood test form.  Urine Sample bottles are available at the surgery.

COPD : Book an appointment with the COPD Nurse.  Please bring your inhalers and have two puffs of your Ventolin (blue reliever) inhaler about 1-2 hours before your appointment.

Diabetes : Book an appointment with the Diabetes Nurse.  This service includes a review of your treatment, information and important medical checks.  Within your letter you will receive a blood test form and urine test form.  Please ensure you have both of these tests at least 10 days prior to your appointment so the results are available. Please label the urine test bottle with your full name date of birth and NHS or hospital number, both of which can be found on your blood test form. Urine Sample bottles are available at the surgery.

Hypertension : Book at appointment with an HCA/nurse or Practice Pharmacist for your blood pressure check.  Within the letter you will receive a blood test form.  Please ensure you have your blood test at least 10 days prior to your appointment so the results are available. Please bring a urine sample to your appointment. Urine bottles can be collected from the surgery.

Hypothyroidism : A letter will be sent enclosing the necessary blood test form.
